Bridge 21 – Ashby Canal

Friday, April 17th, 2009

This is one of my favourite images from the recent outing along the Ashby Canal. I like the way the narrowboats are framed by the bridge and its reflection. The canal and hedgerow tend to draw ones eye into the picture.

Looks like this image is a hit with others too. Here are some of the recent comments it has received:

A scene like a dream. Ever so beautiful. Instant fave!

What a fantastic little scene right under the arch of the bridge. The entire image draws to that point perfectly. Very beautifully done.

Pure Magic. I want to be there.

The new green colours are fantastic.

Beautiful !!!!!!

Yet another one nicely ‘scene!!’

Braunston Junction – Cottage

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009

Today’s picture is of the cottage at Braunston Junction. It is pictured in bright sunshine being passed by a narrowboat which is peacefully navigating its way down the canal. The turnover bridge, bridge 95, is also pictured reflecting in the still waters of the canal.

The Cottage Reflects

Reflecting on the history of the Grand Union Canal. This lock keepers cottage just south of Braunston Marina casts its early morning reflection into the canal which ripples gently whist awaiting the first of the days narrowboat traffic.
