Cottage at Whilton Locks

Saturday, May 16th, 2009

This image takes us to Whilton Locks again and a view from the locks looking back at the cottages on the towpath side of the grand union canal. There seems to be no shortage of water as it cascades over the lock gates.

Virgin Trains at Buckby Locks

Saturday, April 18th, 2009

A break from the Ashby Canal today and a brief return to the Grand Union Canal. The Buckby flight of locks to be precise, but staying with the bridge theme. The weather was perfect today and I was fortunate enough to be able to capture an image of two Virgin trains closing head on whilst a narrowboat was entering the lock.

Foxton Locks

A classic view of the staircase locks at Foxton. A total of ten locks in two staircase groups of five raise or lower narrowboats some 75 feet. Foxton locks can be visited on the Leicester line of the Grand Union Canal.
